Rearranged fixture sees Kings travel to Biggleswade.
Kings Langley will make the journey to Bedford on Monday evening for a Southern League Division One Central clash with Biggleswade FC.
The matchup comes at short-notice, with Kings’ scheduled Saturday tie against Real Bedford postponed due to The Pirates’ FA Trophy obligations. The trip to Berkhamsted FC on Tuesday night is now also awaiting a new date, after the pitch was deemed waterlogged and unplayable.
Biggleswade FC are currently sat in 13th place - an unfair barometer as to their season’s start after playing just four league games. They have, however, progressed to the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup where they will face York City as they bid to continue their impressive run in the competition.
Formed in just 2016, they’ve lost only one league encounter thus far this season, a 3-0 loss to Aylesbury United on the opening day, and have claimed seven points from an available 12.
Most recently, they overcame Kidlington to follow up a 2-1 victory over AFC Dunstable in a league season interjected with frequent cup fixtures due to their success in both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy.
Their two wins have both come over sides at the lower end of the table and they have played only one team higher than 14th place. Without being challenged by top teams and with such a limited sample size available, the challenge facing Jordan Parkes’s team is heightened as the true strength of their opposition is relatively unknown.
Striker Daniel Bond appears to be the main goal threat, with five goals in his nine games so far, and right-back Adam Hunt has also featured heavily for ‘FC’ with over 200 club appearances to his name.
Kings will be desperate to get back to action, having had to wait longer than expected to bounce back from defeat to Thame United, after Tuesday night’s postponement. A slow start that evening was decisive and they will hope to race out of the blocks and avoid similar disappointment this time out.
There may be a debut for Tami Ogunnowo, an exciting winger joining from Waltham Abbey earlier in the week, and he will be a welcome addition to the attacking ranks for Parkes to choose from.
Also pushing for a start will be Bradley Smith after the young midfielder impressed off the bench against Thame. On loan from Hemel Hempstead, Smith added a sense of enthusiasm and pace and cracked the crossbar with a long range effort as he looked to bring his team back into the tie.
Having dominated the second period but failed to hit the back of the net last Friday, Kings will be looking for their luck to change and to find a more ruthless edge in order to make the most of their chances.
Sat in 11th place, it is a chance for Kings to accelerate away from the chasing pack and secure their spot in the top half of the table before attention turns to the Cup next weekend.
For any fans planning to support the team and make the Monday night trip, kick off is 7.45 at The Eyrie, Meadow Lane, MK44 3LW.
