The Orbital Fasteners Stadium will host its final Kings Langley game of the 2024/25 campaign this Friday, when second-placed Berkhamsted FC are the guests.
It comes with plenty still to play for for the home side, whose valiant effort at Real Bedford was in vain - cruelly denied the points they fought so hard to find yet again. A trip to the Champions-in-waiting was always going to be a challenge, but Steve Heath’s side showed they were up for the battle and came away on the wrong end of a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Elsewhere in the relegation scrap, Northwood continued their impressive run of late with a 3-0 win at home to Leighton Town. The three points moved The Woods above Kings and into 17th, and it looks increasingly like a two-way race between Kings and local rivals Leverstock Green to avoid the final relegation spot. As it stands, Langley are four points ahead of The Green with two games to play compared to The Green’s three.
Kings’ remaining league clashes both come over the Easter weekend, with the first on Friday against Berko. The Comrades’ title charge was brought to a close by Bedford this weekend, who mathematically confirmed their Champions tag with their win over Kings, but nonetheless it has been a solid campaign for the side relegated last time out and they’ll harbour serious playoff ambitions.
With three games of the regular season left to play themselves, they’ll be keen to gain some winning momentum heading into post-season affairs. They come into this one off the back of a comprehensive 4-0 victory over already-relegated North Leigh that put to bed any concerns of a drop off in form, having claimed just two points from three games prior to that.
All-round contributions have been key to Berko’s success, with four goalscorers in double digits so far this term. Their leading bagsman is JJ Lacey with 16, while familiar face Louie Collier has chipped in with 11. Only Real Bedford have bettered their goal scoring tally, and their defensive record also ranks third in the league with three clean sheets in a row.
Back in November it was The Comrades who got the better of the sides - 3-1 victors in the season’s first derby. With the teams set to clash again on Friday, Kings will be desperate for your support as they look to put in another worthy performance and trust that the points will follow.
Good Friday = Do Good Friday at Kings, so you’ll be able to perform your own act of generosity by donating to one of our local Charity Partners on the table that’ll be located just inside the turnstiles. What better reason to get down to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium for some bank holiday action!
