After 90 minutes were unable to separate both Kings Langley and Cockfosters, they match up against each other tonight, with a place in the next round of the FA Cup.
In Saturday’s fixture between the two teams, both competed in a highly physical and close contest, with a penalty from Matt Thomson cancelling out Qasim Khan’s impressive strike in the first half. With the visitors competing in a division below, they would have gained confidence from both the result and their performance, as the second half saw them have many chances and remain dominant.
The star player from Saturday’s game was the Cockfosters centre-back JJ Cruz, who operated as a dominant force in their defence. As Kings looked to play over the top of the defence, Cruz was able to use both his aerial ability and physical edge over his opponents and registered himself a high duel success rate. Despite this, goalkeeper Cian Moore’s distribution will be a strength which Kings Langley will look to utilise, as this resulted in them getting into many promising positions in the previous fixture.
This fixture also sees the First Team Coach Jimmy Gray experience his first competitive home match in Kings Langley colours. He will look to use his years of expertise and tactical knowledge to help push the team as far into the FA Cup as possible. Alongside this, Head Coach Jordan Parkes has served his game suspension from the sideline and will be back in contention and Centre Back Matt Hall’s red card does not come into effect until Saturday’s first league game away at Kidlington.
In terms of further absentees, attacker Lance Williams and full back Bradley Dixon-Smith will not be playing, with Dixon-Smith being substituted in the first half after an injury he sustained.
However, the FA Cup remains a very important competition and progress will hold great significance for both clubs. At least 180 minutes will be required to find out who will progress, with the potential of an extra 30 minutes extra time and penalties if the score remains level. Both teams will want to progress, but there can only be one winner.
